Real Life Breastfeeding Stories

Rethinking that “to-do list”

I recall making a list of all the things I was going to accomplish while I was on maternity leave following the birth of my first child.  My thought was “how much time could feeding and changing a baby take if I’m not working–they sleep the rest of the time right?”  That list never got done!  I failed to realize that babies break your day into little segments of time.  Basically, they change your life in ways you cannot foresee.  This is not a scary thing, it’s just until you have the baby you don’t know how they will change how you live and what is important to you to get done.  Unless you are really good at no sleep and doing things in short bursts–just the basics happen after they are born.  Remember though, like most things, this phase of life passes.  It is fine to accept those offers to help-this won’t last forever–even if it feels like it!  During your pregnancy is the best time to do your reading, sleeping and thinking–unless of course you already have other little people at your house and you realize how ridiculous I was to make that list in the first place.
